Report Builder
A customizable reporting tool for building tailored, multi-period analyses using your own combination of dimensions, metrics, and filters.
What Is the Report Builder?
The Report Builder is a fully customizable analytics table that lets you configure your own view of the data. You control what rows appear, what columns are shown, and what time period is covered. The output is a detailed, multi-period table that can be used for deep-dive analysis, ad hoc reporting, and building custom views that aren't available elsewhere in Analytics.
Configuring the Report
Before running the report, use the filter and configuration bar at the top to set up your view:
Filters:
Distributor — Limit data to one or more specific distributors.
DC — Narrow to a specific distribution center.
Operator — Focus on a specific operator.
Unit — Drill down to a specific operator location.
DC Customer # — Filter by the distributor's customer number.
Manufacturer — Filter by manufacturer.
Category — Filter by product category.
DC Item # — Search for a specific distributor item number.
MFG # — Filter by manufacturer item number.
Date Range — Set a custom start and end date for the reporting period.
Report Configuration:
Dimensions — Select which dimensions to include as row groupings in the table. Options allow you to control how granular the data is — for example, grouping by Operator and Manufacturer, or by Distributor and DC Item #.
Metrics — Choose which performance metrics appear as columns. Options include Ordered Cases, Delivered Cases, Sales Amount, Weight, Avg Dollar per Case, and Avg Dollar per Pound.
Time Period Toggle: Use the period buttons in the top-right corner to control how data is broken out across columns:
Y — Year
Q — Quarter
M — Month
W — Week
D — Day
Selecting Month (M), for example, will add a column set for each month in your date range, letting you compare performance side by side across periods.
Reading the Output
The Report Builder generates a table where each row represents a unique combination of the dimensions you selected, and each column group represents a time period. Within each period, the metrics you selected are displayed side by side.
For example, a report configured with Operator + Manufacturer as dimensions and Ordered Cases + Sales Amount as metrics, broken out by Month, will show each operator-manufacturer combination with their ordered cases and sales amount for each month in the date range — all in a single view.
This format is particularly useful for:
Period-over-period comparisons — See how performance changes month to month or quarter to quarter without switching between reports.
Multi-dimension analysis — Combine dimensions that don't appear together in any predefined report.
Custom KPI tracking — Select only the metrics relevant to a specific business question and remove the noise.
Stakeholder reporting — Build a tailored view of the data that can be shared or exported for presentations and reviews.
