Drop Size Report
Analysis of delivery drop sizes by operator, distributor, and unit to improve delivery efficiency and cost structure.
What Is the Drop Size Report?
The Drop Size Report breaks down delivery performance at the unit level — showing exactly how many deliveries each unit received, how many cases were ordered and shipped, the dollar value of those deliveries, and how efficiently each drop was fulfilled. Unlike the higher-level distributor and dashboard views, this report operates at the individual location level, making it the right tool for detailed delivery analysis.
Reading the Report
The report is presented as a detailed table with one row per operator unit and distributor combination. Each row contains the following columns:
Operator — The operator organization the unit belongs to.
Distributor — The distribution company servicing this unit.
DC — The specific distribution center fulfilling deliveries to this unit.
Unit — The individual operator location receiving deliveries.
DC Customer # — The distributor's internal customer number for this unit.
Deliveries — The total number of delivery stops made to this unit in the selected period.
Cases — The total number of cases delivered to this unit.
Ordered — The total number of cases ordered by this unit.
Dollars — The total dollar value of deliveries to this unit.
Avg. Delivery — The average dollar value per delivery stop.
Avg. Cases per Delivery — The average number of cases delivered per stop. This is the core drop size metric — a low number may indicate inefficient delivery frequency relative to volume.
Fill Rate — The percentage of ordered cases that were successfully delivered to this unit.
How to Use It
The Drop Size Report is most useful for:
Identifying low drop size units — Units with a low average cases per delivery may be receiving too many small deliveries, increasing cost and logistics complexity.
Monitoring fill rate by unit — Spot specific locations where fill rate is consistently below expectation, which may indicate a supply or routing issue with a particular DC.
Comparing distributor performance by unit — Since the same unit may be serviced by multiple distributors, the report makes it easy to compare how each distributor is performing for that location.
Supporting distribution planning conversations — Use the data to have informed conversations with distributor partners about delivery consolidation, frequency adjustments, or route optimization.
Filters
Use the filter bar at the top of the page to narrow results:
Distributor — Limit to one or more specific distributors.
DC — Filter to a specific distribution center.
Operator — Focus on a specific operator and their unit locations.
Unit — Drill down to a single unit location.
Date Range — Set a custom start and end date for the reporting period.
